Groups: Team Building Hunts

New for 2008!

We are proud to announce that Portland Walking Tours now offers a selection of team building activities for our corporate clients, non-profit organizations, youth and social group customers. A Hunt with Portland Walking Tours is guaranteed to make your next team building event an entertaining and memorable one. All of our Hunts were created with team building in mind and were purposefully designed to foster team communication and cooperation, encourage creative problem solving and effective prioritization and time management skills. They were made to be FUN!

If you look online for “team building” you’ll find all sort of activities: fire walks, laser tag, trust falls, paint ball, drumming, team cuisine, murder mysteries, ropes courses, improvisational theater – the list goes on and on. They claim to create reliance between people and the team, but they usually focus on the individual or on trust-building bonding experiences.

That’s where we present something new and engaging. A scavenger hunt is a strong relationship-builder, a lot of fun for everyone, and an active way to get to know the city or a museum. Unlike other activities, our hunts emphasize problem-solving, creativity, time management, prioritization and decision-making. Best of all, it’s affordable.

In the usual “grab and go” scavenger hunt, the event is predictable and the strategy is straightforward. “You go find this object, I’ll find this, meet back here in an hour.” We said to ourselves, that’s not team building, it’s just downright boring. So we thought what if we didn’t rely on items, but instead on people’s imaginations and the skills. You won’t be hunting for things but for answers to tricky and humorous questions about the intriguing places and objects you discover. The team that answers the most questions correctly wins. Our basic hunts last three hours, but they can be customized to meet your needs.

Some people are “word smart” and some are “music smart.” Others have people skills and others excel in logic. Our challenges have each draw upon their own skills and contribute to the team as a whole. Within moments of starting a hunt, you’ll see teams getting into a small huddle and start thinking, laughing, exchanging ideas and hatching marvelous solutions to our questions.

It doesn’t make a difference if you are coming from a large or small company, an individual department, school, non-profit, church, or association. While our basic events are approximately three hours, we can arrange a 90 minute ‘lunchtime’ hunt that gets the group outside and having a great time.

No matter what, your group will be working their exercising their creative muscle and having a ball while doing it.
